I stumbled upon an article this morning about a security vulnerability in certain Ford motor vehicles.
The article’s headline was “Ford says it’s safe to drive its cars with a WiFi vulnerability”.
The word “vulnerability” was enough to get my attention.
After reading the article and Ford’s press release, it does seem like this vulnerability is nothing to worry about.
For most people most of the time:
– A collision with another vehicle is the bigger risk, and
– The person behind the wheel is the bigger vulnerability.
But that doesn’t make a good news headline.
So what has this got to do with cyber security?
When it comes to a lot of things in life, but especially cyber security..
We need to focus on the real risks, not just the ones that make the headlines.
